Some historians trace its foundation to the Almohad era in the 12th century. It is one of the oldest tanneries in Fez to use natural materials. It is located in the district of Blida on the bank al Qaraouiyine in the left part of Oued Al Jawahir crossing the Medina of Fez. Sidi Moussa tannery name refers to Sheikh Abu Imran Moussa ibn Ali. This tannery is located in the Guerniz district and its existence dates back, according to historians, to the 9th century. The Ain Azliten tannery is named for the district and is located near two springs, whose waters have been used for a long time.
