Bab Boujloud gate is one of the main entrances to the medina. Unique by its strategic location, this great door opens on the one hand on Talaa Sghira and Talaa Kbira, two main arteries serving Fez El-Bali (the old Fez), and on the other hand on Boujloud square with its high adobe walls and Fez Jdid (new Fez). The prestigious Qaraouiyine library founded in 1349 by the Merinid sultan Abu Inan is located on the mythical Place Seffarine. Its documentary collection, made up of rare and unique manuscripts in the world, exceeded 32,000 volumes in 1613. Since the Merinid era, it was the favorite place of students and scholars who came in large numbers to Fez, considered the capital of knowledge and science in the Maghreb. The Place Lalla Yeddouna Quarter is located close to Bin Lamdoun bridge on the Adouat Al Quaraouiyine side. This has long been a traditional craft center, where artisans, especially tanners and coppersmiths, work. For several centuries, Place Lalla Yeddouna has encompassed a range of structures and historic buildings (fondouks, houses, workshops, fountains, and bridges). Medina of Fez
