The Bou Inania madrasa is one of the few Moroccan madrasas to have both a pulpit and a minaret. But what first strikes the visitor on entering this sacred place is certainly the beauty of its decoration. Located opposite the Qarawiyyin Library, the Seffarine Madrasa is the oldest madrasa in Fez. Founded in 1271, it takes its name from the seffarine district (dinandiers) where it is located. The one-storey building is organized around a patio, bordered to the east and west by galleries that serve five and four bedrooms respectively. Considered one of the wonders of Fez, the Attarine madrasa bears the name of the district where it is located, the Attarine souk which means « spice market ». It occupies a strategic position near the al-Qaraouiyine mosque and was the privileged place to house talibs (students). Madrasas
